I’m a self-taught software developer based in Freiburg im Breisgau, in Germany.

I studied Mathematics as well as English Literature and Linguistics at the universities of Heidelberg and Freiburg. Even though I originally intended to become a secondary education teacher, I discovered the joys of software engineering and the beauty of algorithms in my mathematical specialization, focusing on numerical mathematics and the implementation of numerical schemes for fluid dynamics.

So now, I’m working as a software developer for a medical IT startup in Freiburg and am also taking some more computer science courses at the Fernuniversität Hagen, always eager to hone my IT skills and take on any technical challenge that passes my path.

My primary interests lie in application software development in Python and C++, mainly for web-based applications, in software testing strategies (mainly test driven development (TDD)) and agile project management (Scrum and Extreme Programming).

I’m proficient in C++, Python, mySQL, Postgresql, SQLite, php, JavaScript and HTML and in the development under and for and the administration of unixoid systems (mainly Red Hat and Debian based Linuxes). I have happened to use the following frameworks: Django (Python), Symphony (php), TYPO3 (php), Qt (Python and C++), jQuery (JS), DUNE Numerical Environment (C++). I am familiar with common version control systems (subversion and git) and am not a stranger to web server configuration tasks (Apache + mod_wsgi, nginx + uwsgi).

I’m not currently looking for full time employment, but am willing to take on freelance work. So if you need support on any software project, preferably Python and C++-coding tasks you can write me an email at mail@room2web.de.
